HOOP COOP WITH HIGH VOLTAGE >:)

After losing some of my best laying hens to a neighbors dog (who has since disappeared for good ) I decided to upsize my electric fence controller. I originally just had 1 electric wire running around the bottom of my 8x8 hoop coop chicken tractor that was powered by a HARBOR FREIGHT solar electric fence controller. That was strong enough to deter raccoons, cats and possums from trying to dig under the bottom of the tractor, but I quit using it when I covered the hoop with sheets of foamboard and commercial roof coating and poured a concrete slab to make a permanent coop, ( See article : HOOP TRACTOR BECOMES A PERMANENT INSULATED COOP). I figured that if nothing could tunnel into the wire covered coop, and the ADOR1 auto door kept working, the girls were safe
at night. I WAS WRONG.
As the dog had forced its way under my 300' x 6' tall deer fence into the run in the middle of the day it then had access to the coop as well since the auto door is open in daylight. Bad stuff doesn't just happen at night!!
Once we had cleaned up the carnage and bought new chicks we decided to up our stake in the"CHICKENS VS PREDATORS ARMS RACE"
I proceeded to install 2 hot wires onto the wood fence posts with plastic insulators spaced 6" and 18" above the ground.
When the HF solar powered controller was wired up, I didn't think it had enough "bite" (too many cloudy days in Michigan) so i ordered and installed a POWERFIELDS PF-AD-200-C ac/dc 2 joule fence charger for around $100.00 from HORSE.COM.
WOWWW and OWWW !!!! This thing should definitely do the job. When I squatted down and barely touched the wire to show my young nephews what not to do, it threw me on my keister,.. O well at least they got a good laugh out of it.
The bottom wire on fence is connected with an alligator clip in case I have to disconnect it next winter to keep snow from shorting the fence.
To deter flying threats like hawks, owls etc,,, 30# and 60# clear and green fishing line was strung criss cross above the run.
I can't think of anything else to make it more secure short of sitting out with a shotgun or buying and training a livestock guardian watchdog.
It's amazing what can be involved in getting FREE EGGS!!!!
