Chicken got maimed, she's our only hen right now. She normally plays with the dogs and is fine but I found her underneath the car in bad condition. She's standing, both wings look defeathered a bit but reasonable ok but looks like her front is opened up too. She normally follows me around and comes when I call but is sticking to staying under the car. Luckily she already stays by herself. Other than trying to keep her clean any advice?

I would apply neosporin to her wounds and wrap them. Keep her warm and quiet with plenty of food and water in reach. She should be fine, they are very resilient. Good luck!

Large amount of feathers, maybe skin under her neck is loose. She's pecking /cleaning the spot herself. She's moving around under the car now but still won't come out

Update, she returns to her enclosure last night after tempting her with food. She's made it through the night, she let me pick her up this morning and we went straight into the shower, got lots of dirt and dried blood off. She's more than defeathered, her skin was ripped off her back and front side. The skin with feathers is hanging loose from her neck, I'm afraid to cut it off but now it's clean.
My big concern is her neck, she has a large bulge that is opened. It was full of hay and one type of grain in her food, I guess some sack of unprocessed food, I removed some of grain and hay so it could close it; haven't yet.

Hen's been really patient with me removing loose feathers and hair stuck to her, I even cut away some loose skin from her back with little grief; I think I can close her up fairly easily. Waiting on her to dry infront of the heater before doing anything further.

So questions, how to properly close that hole. I can do neosporin but not sure how to wrap her being that raw. Is there any OTC or animal store antibiotics I can give her? We've avoided feed with anything like that in it.

I think the bulge may be her crop, especially with the food in it. Can you post a picture? You may have to stitch it shut.

JMO but I think I would end her suffering... either that or take her to the vet. You can give her aspirin for pain but only if she's not still bleeding since it thins the blood. Dissolve it in water at a rate of 5, 125gr tablets to a gallon of water and only offer that for drinking water. I did this recently for my barred Rock who was caught by a fox, and it truly seemed to help.

http://imgur.com/a/mcmVa Best I could do for pics, just gave her food again. She's drinking and acting fairly normal, I'll see if she's eating in a bit. I treated the raw areas with Cut&Heal, it's Crude Fish Oil, Raw Linseed Oil, Tea Tree Oil, and Balsam of Fir

She needs treatment. It looks like her crop is ripped. If so, it needs to be sutured closed. Then suture her skin, (if there's any) separately. If it were my bird, I would take her to a vet ASAP, or end her life. She looks like she's in a lot of pain.

It's her gizzard, flushed with saltwater and repaired. She's eating, drinking, pooping, and getting around. Making amazing progress actually. Still not in the clear but we've got hope.
