I got these 5 chicks when they where 3 weeks old, so they are around 8 weeks right now, was told they are black jersey giants, are they? Can anyone tell the sex of them by the picture

Those are not Jersey Giants - they appear to be either Barred Rocks or, given the fact that there are a whole lot of boys in the shot, black sex link males. If you can get a slightly closer shot it would help as there are a couple who are not able to be seen clearly enough for a definitive gender ID in this shot, those that can be seen are definitely male.
