We picked up 12 production red pullets 3 days ago. All have been fine until this evening. Tonight we found the smallest one mostly unresponsive laying under the heat lamp in the brooder. This is the second round of baby chicks we've done, had no issues with the first run. Food and water has been cleaned/changed/filled/ twice a day. Using medicated chick starter (same brand and type we have always used) 2 had pasty butt but that was easily remedied yesterday morning. The baby chick does chirp and open its eyes if its handled. Upon reading online someone said to try to give it a little warm sugar water, which we tried and it seemed to drink quite a bit but then spit it all back up after a few minutes. Overall the chick can't stand on its own for longer than a second, it doesn't keep its eyes open fully, breathing appears slowed, just overall lethargic. I removed it from the brooder and have it in a quarantine until I can make it better. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, my Fiance has been very upset so we have to save the day!
