HI everyone! We have 6 buff orpington chicks- they are three weeks old. I have a premier one heat plate. When I went to buy some stuff at the feed store, they had one barred rock that had been returned by the owner because she had taken one with a broken leg and this one wouldn't leave it alone. So it's the same age as mine. It's a little smaller, because mine are fat pigs
, but not too much so. They were a little standoffish with her at first and pecked at her a little. She is very healthy-eating, drinking, trying to socialize- she is a SUCH a love. But when they go under the heat plate, they don't let her get all the way under. I'm worried that tonite they shove her out and she'll freeze The temp in our garage where our brooder is is probably 50-55.
Should I go out and make a mama heating pad? Or do you think she will be ok?
