Still some ups and down. Not eating Thursday and I discovered her ears were totally clogged. Was able to pick out a big plug on one ear and most of a whitish yellowish goo on the other one. Talked to the vet since who does not recommend to use hydrogen peroxide on any ear canals including humans! Also informed me that Baytril ". Baytril (enrofloxacin) is strictly prohibited from use in poultry. It is unfortunate that there is so much misinformation about its use in chickens online."
She may give me another antibiotic.
"Fungal infections do not cause cottage-cheese like exudate; the only reason to start an anti-fungal would be if Chica is battling "sour crop" issues from delayed crop emptying.
5. If you would like another antibiotic, I would recommend a course of trimethoprim sulfa. We do also have Tylan powder available but it is harder to make sure Chica is getting an appropriate dose of this form of medication (used to dose large flocks). Helping her clear the respiratory infection with systemic antibiotics will take care of the ear infection. Keep wiping out her ear openings so they can drain appropriately."
Last night Chica ate a few seeds...

You have a splendid vet there! You're right about so much mis-information. Unfortunately, many people don't do their homework and jump at the first 'cure' they read about. I'm always amazed at how quickly some rush out and buy antibiotics, dose their birds and not realize the implications in the big picture.
The long term use of antibiotics by the livestock industry (not just poultry) has been implicated in the current trend of antibiotic resistance now seen in humans.

I'm not saying they aren't useful, but they must be used judiciously....anyway....keep up the good work!

This is the weirdest thing and I will post that on a new thread as well. Chica is now almost fine... But I'll keep the antibiotics and anti inflammatory for the 10 days the vet prescribed. She eats the seeds I put right in front of her beak. She chased small bugs for hours and everytime I look at her she misses them by 1/4 of an inch. Same thing with seeds in the ground it grass she tries to eat. Now if course she only has one eye... But had been like this for 5 years and was a master at catching bugs! What could possible go wrong??? Plus she does not want to drink at all and tube feeding her is becoming more difficult! I just need to make sure she gets water and the meds... Is there another way without any risk for aspiration??? I may have made her beak site from holding her while setting the tube?

I'm glad Chica is improving! I don't know the answer to your questions, does she drink at all without the tube?
 
Great news: Chica now eats on her own: seeds, bread in water papaya tomatoes and caught her first bug this morning! My only worry is that I never see her drink and she refuses the water I try to give her... I just hope she does.
Other concern: the tube feeding is now a nightmare she hates it! I don't need to feed her but want to continue the meds and give a bit of fluid with electrolytes. I am too worried about a possible aspiration so I prefer to keep using the tube... She still is a bit uncoordinated and can't hop very well one one leg so I think I should continue the medications until Friday just to be safe... And yes one more weird thing: her bad eye (which I thought was gone as the whole eye ball fell off 5 years ago) that eye lid is now a bit open and the inside looks moist. I am worried about an open access to an infection. I thought about putting some antibiotic ointment but I am worried dust and sand will stick to it making things even worse. Eye drops? What do you think!
I think we are almost there and only hope she is finally on the final leg to full recovery!

She has been off all medications for 3 days and has laid 4 eggs! Back to being my cute little girl in my yard. Hopping on one leg and catching bugs with one eye! Eating like a pig!!! Drinking water and absolutely back to normal!
I sincerely want to thank you all for your wonderful support! And keep in mind that these guys are really tough and as long as there is life there is hope!
