Pullet or roo??

Ah, the EE thread is the exception to the rule. I think their may be a Silkie thread also; both breeds are notoriously difficult to sex. But in general, it's best to make your own thread for your questions and photos.

Have you considered a no-crow collar if the bird is in fact a cockerel? They do not always work but they can sometimes be very effective in reducing the volume and frequency of crowing. They can be purchased premade but can also be made at home for under $10 and with little effort; all that is needed is Velcro and scissors.

No-crow collar?! I've never heard of this. I'll have to look into it! Thanks!!

I got a close up of one EE's comb. Does three rows automatically mean a rooster?

That's a relief!! If you have a moment, what makes you sure?

Well, at a glance I can't see any red on the comb that sticks out to me. Roosters at this age would have way more color showing than this. Also, her feather show nice, thick, broad feathers, and no saddle feathers. It totally has that "hen" look going, nothing at all showing roo.

Three rows does show more often in cockerels, but it is by no means a definite rooster thing. So far the comb appears to be very small and quite pale pink, so I'd say it looks like a pullet as of now. That said, EEs are incredibly tricky to sex and I've seen many who failed to show obvious cockerel characteristics until 12-14 weeks! Sexing EEs is a very subtle thing.
