Hello all,

My one hen (ambrlink) has felt very light recently. I'm not home to monitor her eating. Where they store food (totally drawing a blank right now to what its called) isn't really full. It's hard to tell if there's anything in it. The scales on her legs are uplifted and so are the other hens. She is the only one showing any signs of an illness. Her body looks normal, it's just when you pick her up she is lighter then normal. Does anyone know what could be causing this? Could it be scaley leg mites? If so, how can I treat it? In general, if you have any idea what it could be, how would you go about treating it?

Thank you in advance!

It is possible that she has scaly leg mites, but I would also check the skin under her wings and on her back for other parasites, too. Especially if her crop isn't very full. To treat scaly leg mites, coat her legs generously with Vaseline, petroleum, or even applying baby oil frequently to suffocate the mites. If she also has mites or parasites, I would *CAREFULLY* dust her with Sevin powder or a similar product. Good luck!

She doesn't look like she has scaly leg mites
The way I treat Scaly leg mites is with good o'l VASELINE put a nice thick coat on 2 times each day ( In the morning and at night) It will go away in a week or 2.
I agree with @ChickenGoesRuff Check and make sure she doesn't have any parasites even check her poop(Yes I know disgusting but check for white worms)

Hope This Helps
