Incubating chicken and duck eggs right side up :(

Just read that apparently in the egg turner I should have put all eggs bottom up:( I thought I had really done my research and now I find this out. Chick eggs have 9 days left, ducks have 14 days. Is it too late to turn them over?

:welcome  I'm not sure what is the top or the bottom to an egg, but they should be large end up.  If you have not been incubating that way you can turn them large end - air cell end - up.

Hi welcome-byc.gif

Glad you could join the flock! Yes eggs should be set fat end up and pointy end down in the egg turner. I would turn them over as soon as possible. Being incubated the wrong way can cause malpositioned chicks so when they start to hatch keep an eye on where they are pipping. If they pip at the pointy end they are malpositioned and may need some assistance to hatch. Not all malpositioned require help but they do need extra time as they miss the internal pip out if the hatching process.

Wishing you the very best of luck with your eggs fl.gif

It won't kill them to turn them completely ove at this point??? They r in an egg turner.

It shouldn't, but it might kill them to try to hatch upside down.

You could try posting on one of the hatching threads.

Thank you for your responses. I turned them all over. I'm praying they will be ok. Since the min I decided to do this I have been online reading everything I can get my hands on about incubating and raising chickens ducks and geese. And I just can't believe it took me till today to see anyone say the big side goes up!sad.png(( Iv been reading everyday learning all I can and Iv noticed EVERYONE has a different opinion or way of doing it. Temps seem to be consistent across the board but humidity is a different story, everyone says something different. Very confusing. Iv been keeping mine between 50-60 for both ducks and chickens. I hope that's ok!?? They r in seperate incubators. Forced air incubators.
