Kansas City, MO (well Raymore actually)

Hello everyone I am new to chicken mothering! I got 5 babies around Easter for my rather large chicken coop. I am now looking for more black cooper muran chicks. I live in Edgerton Kansas just south of overland park. My inherited coop has 60 boxes in it. What is the max amount of bird a coop that size can hold? Does each girl need more than one box? I also have ducks, geese and Guineas can they all sleep together? Thanks for taking your time and reading my post.

You'll find a lot of answers to your questions in the Learning Center (it's the tab at the top of the screen right next to the Home tab).

60 nesting boxes seems like a crazy large number for a backyard flock. With 5 laying hens, you only need 2 or 3 boxes. What you'll find is a lot of time the birds will choose one box as their "favorite" and use the same one.

Have fun and make yourself at home here!

Thanks for the info. 60 boxes is a huge coop it came with the property. I never intend on filling it up. I have been thinking of dividing it into smaller coops. It also has a huge are for them to run but I have my pigs in there for now because the ground is really hard and needs to be tilled up so I can grow some grass for them when they get older. Someone took a semi truck box and converted it into a coop.
