The gf and myself decided to get chickens this year so in the beginning of February I got 6 black sex links, 4 Isa browns, 2 batams and one duck. After about a month and a half of them being inside we decided to get started on our coop.. that's where I found this forum! So here's what we got so far.

it's a 10x20 run with a coop nesting area I got from tractor supply. I will be building a better coop nesting area once I get more chickens. I've added 2 black astralorps to my flock of birds but they are still feathering out. Here's pictures of them with the rest of my birds in the outside grow out area

Thanks for looking I'll post with all my progress! I'll also be posting once I buy more chickens like the buckeye!

Welcome to BYC. If your duckling turns out to be a drake, you may want to get a mate for him so that he does not start breeding the chicken hens.

Sourland is right. Ducks have a much different anatomy than chickens. A drake can kill a chicken hen trying to breed her.

And from everything I've read on how to sex the pekin duck, mines a female. (I think and hope)

That's hotsauce the duck. I'm working on getting the duck area put together so even if it's a male it will be separated from the chickens
