My chicks have been popping like popcorn over the last 24 hrs. This egg pipped and zipped pretty quickly, but now it's got blood on it and it's not moving that I can see.

This is my third hatch, and never had anything like this happen.

Can they bleed out while hatching?

Huh. Still no movement. Do you think it's dead? How long do I leave it in the Bator with my live chicks and eggs? I still have lots of pipping going on.

I have had this happen twice. They have both lived and are fine now. But I opened my inqubator up both times and helped them out I don't know if that makes a difference if you help or not

How is it doing?

It still hasn't moved. I really think it died. But I suppose I should get it out and see. Let's see, moist towel and tweezers?

Yep. Open it up. When they're that far along, I don't even bother with tweezers or keeping them moist. It is/was ready to come out, pop the top.

Good luck :fl

Thanks all!

I opened it up and sadly it was dead. I believe it bled out. Everything was coagulated gooey and still. So sad, but glad to move on to the chicks that are still hatching in there!

Day 23!
