1) How much ventilation do Muscovy Ducks need?

I'm sure most of us have read Patandchickens ventilation page ( and know that chickens need a positively stupendous amount of ventilation. Do Muscovy Ducks need as much? Or more? Or less?

After all, their poop is different from chicken poop, so it ought to produce a different kind of fumes... Right?

And surely duck lungs are different from chicken lungs? Duck must be able to hold their breath for longer, I presume?

And ducks are more often wet, so the air in the duck coop is generally more moist... Right?

2) What are the ideal measurements for a Muscovy nest box?

I need to know width, depth, height, but above all, opening size.

I'm thinking a 16 by 16 by 16 inch nest with a 10 by 10 inch opening, how does that sound?

3) What are the ideal measurements for a Muscovy pop door?

Surely bigger than the nest opening, because the huge drake needs to be able to get in and out, right?

Here I'm thinking 12 inch wide and 14 inches tall.

Thanks in advance!

Edit: I've now changed the pop door to 20 inches high and 18 inches wide. The nest box will be 16 by 24 inches wide and 20 inches high.
