Young chick pecking order

I have six two week old brown comets (that's what the disinterested guy at tractor supply told me they were). When I brought them home a week ago there was one in the group that was nasty and I mean nasty to the others.she was pecking non stop at eyes and everywhere and yanking on wings. She wouldn't let any of them rest. I took her out and put her in a specially made cage so she could see and hear the others without being able to hurt them. She went right to her food dish. Peeped a few alarm calls and then didn't seem to care. That night I wanted her to be able to sleep with the others so I put her back in. They all slept together and the next day her pecking and pulling was about half of what it was. Over the last week she has really settled down but she has ended up being the tiniest little thing yet she is always in the middle of the food dish!! I thought the smallest would be the last one to eat but she seems to be first in line. I am surprised by this. Is this normal? Any ideas on why she might be number one at half the size? Maybe size isn't important to them?

Maybe you have a bantam - if it is half the size of the others. People will pick up a chick out of one bin and put it back in another.

Size isn't important in determining my flock's pecking order. It's all about attitude. My smallest chicken is queen of the flock, she's a feisty little thing who will snatch treats right out of the others beaks. For awhile I had a Muscovy drake who was huge and a bully, he was the size of a goose and one day he was beating up one of my small Runner drakes. Little red chicken went after him and chased him off, I think he was shocked but he always kept an eye on her after that and stayed out of her way.

I just bought 3 baby silky chicks. And 2 are the same size and the 3rd is smaller and I've noticed that the smaller one is pecking at herself on one side, making herself wet like almost like when they are born but just one side. And the other 2 cuddle at night and the little one just stands and sleeps by herself.. They like try to push her away. Any Ideas????!!

Wow never thought about her being a different kind. And as far as attitude...she has a lot of that!
