My girls just got some new digs

You all know chicken math. What started as a few birds ended up turning into a flock, which multiplied to where now I have chickens in the coop, the brooder, and the incubator....

Anyway, there wasn't room for all of them because the original run got scratched bare, so we added another 2000 square feet and it got scratched bare as we added more chickens. In honor of the fact that we're going to have more chickens coming from the brooder next week and the incubator eventually, my son came over and helped me fence in a half acre for our little lovelies. It is pretty much pristine wilderness. We ran some Kencove electric netting as far as it would go (574 feet) and powered it with a 4 joule charger. That's to keep the predators out - we have everything from coyotes to opossums to skunks, but so far the only thing that can "penetrate" the electric netting is a hawk.

So here is a picture of a couple of the gals in their newly acquired digs.

Lovely expansion - lucky flock!

Where are we going, and why are we in this hand basket?

Turns into a fairly expensive hobby doesn't it, in both materials and land?
