When are chickens legs there maximum width?

I have some chicks and would like to put colored zip ties on them as soon as I can. I do not know what age they need to be so that there legs will not grow any more and I can put the zip ties on. What age do you think? Thanks!

You can use zip ties at any time, just keep an eye on them and change as needed so they aren't too tight

If they're still growing, just put the ties on loose like a bangle bracelet. Check to make sure they can't be pulled easily over the toes. I put them on my chicks at 3 weeks old and so far I've only had to change them out once (chicks are 12 weeks old now).

You could also do spiral leg bands (my local feed store sells them). They spread out as the chicks grow so there no worries about them getting too tight.
