Hello everyone I'm new to the site. But have scrolled through hours of threads on here before joining. I have had a lot of questions and found 90% of them answered here. Thanks to all.
I have only in the past week began my chicken experience. I have started my flock with 6 battery hens (red sexlink) I'm sure. They were rescued about 6 weeks before I got them. I didn't even realize the horror these lil girls had been through at the time. They were meant to be dual purpose but now that I know what they have endured I will never kill them. I will get whatever eggs they lay and just let them die a natural death. There feathers are growing back good and are about 75% back to normal. They are starting to act like normal chickens.
Today I got a rooster and put him with them which was pretty stressful for about an hour but they all seem fine with it now. I am not sure of his breed. His dad is a big Jersey giant and my friend said the hen was black too. But he is white with some irregular barring on his chest and abdomen a with black tail.

Can anyone tell me anything about him. He is young and big. But not as big as ole dad. Lol. I'm sure he still has some growing to do.

Welcome to Backyard chickens. You can post his photo at "what breed or gender is this," and received many opinions. I'm afraid all I can tell you is, he is black and white and definitely a rooster but, you already know that.

Hi I'm new too but I've had my two bantams for about a year now and I know that the hen is a old English bantam but not so sure about the male. I also anxious for eggs but no success in getting any (they have mated multiple times) I'm also thinking it could be the hens age but I do not know it nor the roosters. Also could it be she's too fat or missing the oyster in her diet? Please tell me if you know the breed of the rooster thanks!
