I'm in Golden Valley AZ, have been wondering what to do with the heat that is coming and the girls. Any tips on keeping them cool? The run is facing west so I'll have shade cloth on at least 2 sides and the top.  Also how many windows you have in your coop? I am thinking at least two.

Alright :welcome great to have you joining the BYC flock :frow

BYC has a very useful Learning Center :caf

Here this is a photo of a coop I am working on right now :celebrate

Most of the coop is covered with mesh cloth and it allows for the air to move around

Actually all 6 sides are covered in wire Just the top to finish and a roof to go on and there should be plenty of shade ..

Size is 10 feet by 10 feet 8 foot high so there will be plenty of room for them to move around and smaller cages will hang on the walls for the smaller chicks to grow up in .

You really need some room for your chickens to run around in .

Welcome to Backyard chickens.  If you put your state name in the search box, it will pop up.  Post there and ask how others keep their chickens cooler and what type of coop they recommend for the heat etc.  They should know best by their own experiences.

I set fire to the rain! Watch it pour as I, touched your face. Well it burn while I cried, because I heard it screaming out your name. And I threw us into flames. I knew that was the last time, the last time...I set fire to the rain! -Adele
