I am from Jonesborough TN. I have a flock of 6 Salmon Faverolles. One blue salmon roo and his 5 lovely ladies. I used to have upwards of 50 chickens, but I get overwhelmed with all the work that comes with that many chickens. I have found much more joy in having a smaller coop and less chickens. However, it's everything I can do not to get more chicks!!! My birds are still juveniles, and I'm so excited to see them when they're fully grown! Now that I am out of grad school and settled into a good stable career, I am hoping to have a lot more time to connect with people here! Thanks and I look forward to "meeting" you!

Alright

Good luck with your new flock and good luck on keeping a smaller flock as I tried that and failed but I am have fun and it is keeping me very busy all day feeding and watering them

Thanks! I've been using a "hen hydrator" which is a 3 gallon bucket with nipples, and it's been great! I have a chicken fountain, but it has somehow stopped working correctly. This has made my life much easier!!! Thanks for the warm welcome!

That's good - a nipple water system is so much nicer - no huge puddles, no debris in the water

. Salmon faverolles are such a lovely, docile breed. I have never seen a blue salmon cockerel, I wish you would post a photo.

Hi Fiona and welcome to BYC - great to have you onboard with us. I'm sure that after having had a flock of 50 you have lots of experience that you can share with other members, and maybe pick up the odd tip along the way.

All the best
