Where to buy as eggs?

I am thinking of buying 1 barred rock, 1 EE, 1 buff orpington, 1 buff cochin,1 silkie and 1 RIR as hatching eggs. I am planning on getting all from Dunlap Hatchery and the EE from My pet chicken. If there are any cheaper or better places to get these, please tell me.

It might be bit of a challenge economically and logistically to buy one egg of each breed without ordering from a hatchery.  I found a breeder of show-quality BBS Orpington chickens last month who was willing to sell me as few or as many hatching eggs as I wanted for $1.50 each, and the best part was that she literally lives around the corner from me (I took 6 and they are currently pipping under my banty hen ;) You could also try eBay - some sellers raise multiple chicken breeds and are willing to mix and match hatching eggs, especially if you contact them personally.  If I were ordering eggs or chicks through the mail the proximity of the seller/hatchery would be an important consideration.  Wishing you good luck and lots of fun!

I don't know of a hatchery that will sell that small of an amount. I ordered my cochins from mcmurry hatchery they have a minimum order of 25 then after vaccinations and shipping it was over $300
I sell hatching eggs too but I have a minimum order of 12 otherwise it is just not worth it, plus you have to consider not every egg hatches.

I found them for 1 each, just looking for any better places. My total is exactly $10. Thx!

I'd say that's going to be the best deal you will find!

Why do you want to buy just one egg of each breed? Not all shipped eggs will hatch, 50% is doing well. Then on average half will be male. If you are looking for layers there are better ways to get them.

I only want eggs because i don't want the chicks to die during shipment.

I started with shipped eggs and it can work but as the others pointed out, you are not likely to get 100% hatch rate. It all depends. Closer to you is better. The best I have done is 14 viable chicks out of 17 eggs from a breeder that was within 200 miles of me. And the worst I have done is 1 chick hatched out of a dozen shipped eggs. that was not much further away.  Same incubator. The good hatch was first. It goes to show you never can tell. Out of my original 14 chicks, I ended up  up with 6 pullets..And that was pretty close to a 50/50 male/female ratio. I would suggest at least two or three eggs of each breed. . It is not that difficult to sell a few extra chicks on Craigslist if you get too many.
