One chick chirping loud!

I have one chick chirping loud non stop. I have seven total and the rest are fine and just do their thing. I've checked for pasty butt, too hot, too cold, water, food...the whole nine. No matter what I do, it won't stop chirping. At night when I put them in their MHP, not a peep from any of them. Any suggestions?

Baby chicks are like human infants in that they chirp/cry non-stop when they are in distress.

Your chick has something wrong, and it is trying to let you know. You need to be an investigator. Some times a chick learns to peep until its human comes and gives it some attention, But if that's the reason, it will stop when it sees you.

Could it be constipated? Is it pooping? Is it eating? Is it drinking? It may even have an infection.

Is your brooder large enough for all the chicks to move freely in and out of the heated zone, or is the brooder too crowded? This chicks may be either too hot or too cold. You need to figure out which.

We aren't there. You are. Check the chick's butt for pasty butt and clean it if it's pasted over with poop. If it's not pooping, you may need to get some mineral oil into it.

Take these as a starting point, and see if you can figure out why your chick is in distress, if it is.

I have checked everything and have watched the chick for a while on several occasions. It's eating and drinking fine. Hangs with the other chicks, but chirps loud non stop. None of the others are doing this. This brooder is definitely big enough and they have ample room to get in or out of the heat. I'm at a loss.

Turns out that the chick needed more heat.  The MHP had been working great for the first couple days, but the smallest chick in the batch was the one chirping its head off.  Turned the heat lamp back on and it got quiet in a hurry.  Last night at bedtime I turned the light off and stuck them back under the MHP and not a peep was to be heard til this morning where I had to turn the light on again to get it to settle down.
