So, we have 8 adorable peeps that just hatched on Wednesday. We are first time chicken parents and so far so good! We ordered our chicks through Agway months ago and placed an order for 8 NHR pullets.

6 of the chicks look more or less exactly the same, minus the one little one, who is just a bit smaller than the rest. However, two of them have drastically different coloring on their wing feathers, and now their tail feathers too (well, what little tuft of fluff there is for now). They look the same as the other chicks in every other regard, they may be just a touch larger. Does anyone know why this might be? I figured all 8 would be indistinguishable being the same variety.

Oh, and I don't know if this has anything to do with anything, but one of the two oddballs is particularly mouthy. She will peep at the top of her lungs for attention at times. She is healthy, eating, drinking, and pooping fine. We are using MHP instead of a heat lamp and everyone seems very comfortable temp wise. She has done is since the day we brought her home (not constantly) and stops as soon as you come over and pick her up for a snuggle and maybe a little snooze in your hand. She is a little high maintenance, but we're not minding the snuggles too much. ;)

Pics to follow if I can figure out how to post them...

This is a good shot of the color difference. 6 look like the one on the left, 2 have the wing coloring on the right.

The chicks little faces and bodies look totally similar other than the wings!

My husband guessed that maybe they were roos, but we googled that and it doesn't seem to be sex related.

Any input is greatly appreciated!! Thanks! :)
