Hi there! This is my first time raising chicks, but I have a feeling that my almost 5-week old ameracauna pullet that I purchased from a feed store may actually be a He! She is about 1/3 larger than my other chicks and has shown some different behaviors, such S scratching at my hands when I reach into their brooder. Can any expert out there take a look?

Patsy for the moment - though she is an Easter Egger rather than an Ameraucana (they are often misrepresented by hatcheries and, as a result, stores as Ameraucana). Different chicks develop and grow at different rates - Easter Eggers are mixed breed birds so you then have unknown genetics contributing to the growth rate.

That's okay! I am not picky about the breed as long as Patsy turns out to be a she! Ow I'll not be able to keep her if she's a rooster. :(

He/she is now starting to get a pink comb at 5 weeks. I also noticed her/him chasing my white leghorn and grabbing her neck feathers in a super aggressive manner. Eek! Is this normal?
