3 year old hen egg bound all the time

It could be because her body's still getting used to spring, but she's constantly having trouble with her eggs. We've tried oyster shells, yogurt, better feed, nothing is working.

Not to mention that her eggs aren't even eggs! They're rubbery and gloopy! (But they're not lash eggs) So every time she lays one, we have to help her get it out! Once in a while she'll lay a "regular" egg, but even those are oblong and far too big for such a small hen! (She's a petite barnevelder)

I have no idea what to do, and I really don't want to put her down... Any advice?

What breed is your bird?  High production bred birds can hit a point of having these issues at about her age.  If you are providing good nutrition, hydration and sufficient calicium there isn't really anything else you can do to improve the egg quality -- if you are reluctant to put her down you may need to manage her to disrupt production for her sake.

Where are we going, and why are we in this hand basket?

(Sorry for the late reply)

She's a Barnevelder. How would I go about disrupting her production?
