I have a sick anemic hen whom I've been giving oral dosages of Poultry Cell Vitamins. She is less then 1 pound and being the instructions on the bottle only says 1cc to 3cc I don't know the proper dosage. Since she is so small I've been giving her 1/2 of 1cc once a day.I want this to actually work, so does anyone know how much I should be giving her and for how long I can do it? I've tried putting it in the drinking water but since she don't like it she won't drink the water! Spoiled little girl!!!!Thanks everyone!

I'm not sure, but do we know the reason for the anemia?

She had lice. She just went to the vet and although we treated her for lice the vet thinks she may still have them. She got an injection of ivermectin last Saturday and gets another this Saturday. The vet said that her gasping for air has something to do with the loss of red blood cells effecting her airsacs? I have no idea what she is talking about but I figure I need to help her restore her blood cells if this is true,.

Even though this has nothing to do with the vitamins....I've noticed she can't seem to get enough of romaine lettuce! Is there a reason for this and is it ok to have it available to her all the time(except bedtime)? I've heard that chickens know what their body needs so I was wondering if this is the case.Sorry to get off track!

So for a less than 1 pound bird would be 0.33cc?I've been giving her 0.5cc.......this could not have hurt her;could it have?I will check out the link.Thank you!

I wanted to add that I just looked at the link and it does not say how long I can give it to her if I am orally dosing her......what do you think or aren't I suppose to do it more than once?

Ah, very good.

I love dusting everything with Sevin dust every now and again. :) Keeps the creepy crawlies knocked back!

Glad you're taking such good care of your girl!

Thank you MrsB! I've been trying my best to get her back to good health. She has been an expensive one too (5 vets), but she is worth it! She has been sick for 3 and a half months now and I'm hoping she is on the road to recovery!
