Hen in distress

Im recently new to owning chickens and am very concerned about the way my Delaware hen is acting. She came to us just over a week ago and the first full day we had her she layed an egg, then a couple days later another, except this time it appeared to have a small hole that looks like it was pecked. Since the day she came she was very active and in charge of the other two girls. This morning we noticed she was lethargic and would lay down in the coop for an hour then move to the run and just lay there for extended periods of time. She will not eat but was still drinking water here and there. i picked her up and was just kind of examining her and she had water come out of her eyes and mouth. I then checked to see if she was egg bound by inserting a finger in the vent and could not find anything . During that process again fluid came out of her mouth and eyes.I put her down and after a couple minutes she had diarrhea,Normally the oder if any is minimal but standing above her the odor was very strong.I have no clue what to do next any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there, I am not an expert at chicken ailments, but what you are describing sounds like sour or impacted crop. Go to the learning center tab at the top of the page and click on it. Go to chicken health - there is a good article on the problem and how to try and sort it out.

Good luck and keep us posted please - I love Delawares.....:)
