Do Cherry Eggers start having red in their combs and wattles at 3 weeks?

Just wondering if it is normal for Cherry Eggers to start getting the red color to their combs and wattles. Or am I dealing with 1 or more roosters.

All three

Below is a close-up of the one showing pink/red in other lighting.

Some in put would be helpful.

Thanks

Never heard of Cherry Eggers, I see three chicks, the one facing to the left looks pullet then you have two facing to the right....the front one looks pullet but that one in the back, looks Cockerel. The comb is pinkish :( Hope more will peep in with their guesses...

I will try getting clear pictures of them individually tomorrow. Since I have three of the birds I like to get a comparison shot periodically.

Thanks for the input so far.

Okay, those individual pictures I was going to try for...

First two I strongly suspect are cockerels. The third is most likely a pullet, or if a cockerel it is a very skittish one as well as slower to show the signs.

First,

The second

The third simply would not be still long enough for me to get a close up. But, the wattle area is the same color as the rest of her skin - a very light color compared to the other two.

Are these guesses most likely correct?

Input is welcome.

I've never heard of a cherry egger before. They kinda look like RIR to me  and it does look like 2 cockerel and a pullet. I have limited experience though. I'm sure someone will be able to give you a definite answer soon. :pop

When I got them I did not know what a Cherry Egger was either. I just liked their looks. If my research is right they do have one parent that is RIR. They are a type of Production Red from what I understand.

If the two are cockerels, which I do suspect, they will have to go. If memory serves Poor Boys auction in Oklahoma sells chickens as well as livestock. I intend to send some goats that direction in a 6 weeks or so. That may end up being their destination.

Thank-you for the input. It is appreciated.

That's what I love about BYC, the learning never stops! They are pretty birds for sure and sounds like productive ones too, if they're pullets that is.

I hope we're wrong about the two but wattles at three weeks seems a bit suspicious. Who knows, maybe someone will chime in and say it's normal before auction time :).
