I have a question, if I order some silkie eggs online do I not turn them for 7 days?
When the eggs arrive they should be set pointed end down for 24 hours. They should not be moved during that time. After that they go into an incubator or under a broody hen. Eggs should be incubated as soon as possible as viability goes down with passing time. If you have to store the eggs after that 24 hours the eggs SHOULD be turned each day until incubation.
Turning also helps keep the yolk and developing chick from coming into contact with the inside of the shell where it can stick. After a while a membrane develops around the developing chick to protect it from sticking if it touches the shell but it takes a while for that membrane to form.
Do not wait seven days. I have no idea where that came from.
