Do I need to give ducklings extra niacin if there is already some in the feed?

I am feeding Dumor, which list niacin as .25% (?) is this enough? or should I add more. I JUST got the this morning.

Metzer suggests 55 mg/kg (also written as 55ppm)

also are you sure you aren't looking at the "Salt(NaCl) %? that isn't the same as niacin

I recall Dumor being a bit low in niacin . . .

Some ducklings are more sensitive than others to low niacin. I would consider adding brewer's yeast, at least 1 tablespoon per two cups of food...that's about half the amount often given when there are concerns about B vitamin levels. If that's not enough (ducklings develop symptoms of deficiency), then I would double it.

Thanks. I will get some tomorrow. Where is brewer's yeast sold? I tried my local grocery store, but I didn't see any. I looked in the yeast section. Would it be somewhere else?

Yes, it's brewer's yeast, not baking yeast - it is sold as a vitamin supplement. Baking yeast would hurt them.

So look where you would find nutritional supplements.

i can find the nutritional yeast in the aisle with things like corn meal, almond flour, and other specialty flours. i think the brand "Bob's Red Mill" is pretty widely available.

I think that is the stuff
