Dog with ongoing ear issue/infection? Outside opinions please!

I'll look into the powder too. The drops help with the swelling and scratching but as soon as they're stopped it all comes back,I'm glad I'm not the only one who has struggled with this though, how irritating!
 
Ear infections are definitely a tough one to deal with. I second the ear swab. The vet can then look at it under the microscope, which may be all that is needed if things like yeast are found. If they don't find much under the microscope, a culture may be helpful.

I would also suggest talking to your vet about managing allergies or even making an appointment with an allergist if the ear swab turns up negative. Allergies are not any easier to control, but there are some ways to manage them.
