Hello! Today is noticed that one of my month old wyandotte chicks has small blisters on its comb. Acting, eating, and drinking funeral still. She came from a very good breeder that I have gotten many birds from in the past, so I don't think the problem is genetics. Thank you!

Forgot to mention, that one is about 1 1/2 weeks older than the rest. Also, the other chicks look fine. Here is apicture of one of them:

What height is your heat lamp at? When you mention blisters I automatically think of burns, although blisters can form from chafing too. Is the comb hot/warm to the touch? It honestly looks to me like a genetic issue with a cross between comb types, I've had some mutts with pretty wonky looking combs, but if you honestly don't believe it's a genetic issue it's pretty concerning to see a comb that disfigured.

The heat lamp is too high up to burn them and it has a mesh over it to keep them from touching the bulb. As I said before the breeder is very good. Also, the bumps appeared 2 days ago, so its not a birth deffect. Could it be something like fowel poxs? I hope not, but I don't want my flock to get infected from it. Thanks for you for your help!

It looks like normal "bumps" on a comb. If I'm not mistaken, if she is a Wyandotte she will have a rose comb which is shaped like the one in question. Your "comparison" picture looks more like a pea comb.

Here are some comb styles:

Fowl pox is generally transmitted by mosquitoes and the dry form will be like black spots. Wet form will be lesions.

I was also looking for an answer today we notice white spots on the comb of one of our sussex hens and she seems to be shaking her head alot. I do not know if it is the same but I am very concerned. Any info would be appreciated.

My chicks comb has turned mostly black at this point but the bulbs are the same size. And they are pure bred wyandottes for sure, I have no doubt about their genetics. Thank you for your help!
