Ruffled feathers? Or normal behavior

I have 3 week old chicks and every so often I notice a light brown runny poo. It may be cecal? I am having a stool sample tested later today. But I have noticed now when the rest they air out their wings? Or is it ruffled feathers a sign of cocci? I guess I will know for sure once the poo test results are in...but look at this photo and tell me if this is normal? They are very active and happy chicks eating and drinking. But now they relax from time to time and kind of fluff put their wings like this...

Chicks that are too hot will be trying to get as far away from the heat source as they can get. In that case, wings held away from the body, usually accompanied by panting, indicates that they're trying to shed excess heat. You need to raise the heat lamp or swap the bulb for a 100 or 75 watt.

On the other hand, if all the chicks are freely moving about the brooder, active, and happy acting, and if a chick happens to plop down under the heat source and spread the wings like that, it indicates it wishes to soak up more heat, and it feels good. Then there isn't any problem.

They have been doing great

and the poo test results came out perfect, no sickness at all!

MY CHICKS ARE 3 WEEKS OLD AND SOME OF THE FEATHERS ON THEIR WINGS ARE STARTING TO "LIFT" (Like a frizzle). I do not use commercial feed, so I am concerned it might be lack of protein (?) does this sound reasonable? Could someone please let me know if this is a treatable condition or early signs of a disease?

I'm sorry! I wish I was more experienced on the subject and could help you! Maybe someone else has an answer?? Try starting a new thread in the medical conditions forum? I only know that commercial feed is suggested to make sure they get what they need while young and growing. I use chick starter feed that I got from tractor supply store, and my chicks are doing great on it.
