Welcome to BYC, marierod! frow.gif

Deworming I only do when a bird exhibits symptoms associated with a worm infestation.

As far as vitamins go, I do not give my birds any supplements. I do offer electrolytes in the water of day olds to help give them an extra boost.

My best to you.

Welcome to this confusing chicken world.

I would say that you don't want to deworm your

little fellers unless they first have worms. So as

always, watch, check, notice. But keeping their

world clean is your best defense.

As to the vitamins, again the best defense is just

keeping things clean and watching. Good starter food

should have their vitamins included.

The best thing you can do for your chickens is to

simply keep things clean. At any age.

My family and I have recently aquired several different breeds of chickens and from the feed store where we bought the chicks my husband was persuaded to buy this single male mallard duckling because he was by himself. We've had him with all of the chickens (17) since we brought them home and the older they all get the more the duck seems to be a loner. After watching this a few weeks I decided we should get a few more duckings (female ) for him to bond with since he seemed to be the outcast. The females I got yesterday are very young so we did a short introduction,it went fairly well then our mallard seemed to not want the ducklings around him... any suggestions? (Fyi) the younger chicks are still under a heat lamp inside until they are able to be outside without being harmed)

Welcome to BYC! I'm glad you joined us! :)

I set fire to the rain! Watch it pour as I, touched your face. Well it burn while I cried, because I heard it screaming out your name. And I threw us into flames. I knew that was the last time, the last time...I set fire to the rain! -Adele
