Hello Everyone,
I live in New Mexico. In February my honey bought me 6 baby chicks from Tractor Supply. We were told they were unsexed. I have recently posted photos of them, and was told they were pullets. I am excited to raise chickadees. The last time I ever had anything to do with chickens was when I was young I would stay at my grandma's and help her feed them and collect the eggs. I think this will help me get closer to her, since she recently passed away. I think she would be excited that I have chickens. I am still learning as I go. I have learned my chickadees LOVE cooked pinto beans and bananas, they like strawberries, and they are not to fond of romaine lettuce. I have one chickadee that seems to love me, even though I didn't hold them when they were chicks. I didn't want them to be to friendly incase they get out of our fence being that we do live in a small town and not on a large ranch or farm.

Welcome to Backyard chickens. If you put your state name in the search box, it will pop up. Then you can post there and find out if any other chicken folks live near you. You could also make a covered run for your chickens, so you don't have to worry about them going over the fence and upsetting neighbors. It will also keep them safer from hawks, road runners and other predators.

Hi and welcome to BYC - you have some great advice already so I'll just say hello!

All the best
