Small suburban coop night help?

Hello I'm the owner of a small chicken coop at the back of my garden. I only have 2 chickens so not to overcrowd the limited space. My measures about 2m by 1m and has 2 floors. The top floor consists of an area with perches (an area to poop) and the nesting area. The bottom semi open to the elements. The whole coop is situated within what I would call a chicken run that isn't very secure. In the night I always lock them in the coop but should I restrict them to the top floor because there is a metal handle specifically designed for that or should I let them have access to the whole coop. I am worried that if I don't shut the door on the top floor area whilst they are in there they would get cold (especially as I have 1 silkie and 1 frizzle which aren't very hardy considering it get to 1degree Celsius at night). Contrastingly i don't wake up early (around 7:50) earliest so what shall I do? Leave the door open and let them access the water and food below as well as allowing them to move around a little more freely in the morning but risking them getting cold or maybe drafts or shut them in meaning they won't get cold but won't have access to much space, food and water until late morning. Ang help would be much appreciated!

I just answered your other post.  I am sorry but I don't know the metric system.  I don't know if your coop is too large for only two birds. If it is big enough for more birds, it would be good to get more more  -, extra bodies will product more heat  inside.
