I have 10 hens -
2 yellow buff
2 amerucana
1 sxlink
1 Dominique
5 game hens
(and one Roo (welsummer)

Could anyone tell me what the chicks would look like?

Also can I have more than one roo?? I love my chickens. I will eat them as well as get the eggs. I plan to get more breeds for different color. Eggs. Does the roo change the color of the egg? Stupid question sorry

I have no idea what those crosses would produce but, I can tell you the hen influences the egg color (due to her genetics & breed)

BTW - one rooster can handle 10 hens, any less and they tend to get physically damaged or overbred. If you get another rooster, then you should get 10 hens for him as well.

Hi and welcome to BYC - you have some great advice already so I'll just say hello!

All the best

So about 20 hens tp two roos? Just lost all my game bitties due the flooding and creatures getting into our coup. :( but we are getting a cukoo roo and two hens. Thanks for the advice evryone. How do I introduce new chickens to my existing flock. None of my birds are over 6 months yet. Will this be a problem?? They have welcomes the bitties just fine. Curious about getting bigger chickens

What you get really depends on a few things. Are your Ameraucana really Ameraucana, or are they hatchery Easter Eggers? What kind of sexlink hen do you have, black or red? And what colors are the game hens?
The Dominique hen should produce black sexlinks. Barred hens can only pass their barring gene to their male chicks, so any chick that hatches with a white spot on the back of the head is going to be male.
The Buff hens will produce chicks that are lighter gold than the Welsummer.

Sexlink is red my americana not sure how do you know? What's the diff? What is a barred hen.. I need to learn some more. Your really smart
Red sexlinks can carry dominant white, most of her chicks will be red or look similar to her. There are only a few hatcheries that have true Ameraucana, and they cost a lot more than the average chick. Most Ameraucana sold by hatcheries are Easter Eggers. Dominiques have a coloration known as 'barring'. They have alternating stripes of black and white.
