One of our young hens went broody. Hubby and i decided to let her sit. It would be really neat for the kids to experience. Shes sitting on 7. We are on day 14 so i candled tonight. All are good except one which i removed. i discovered today that since shes not getting up, the other hens are climbing on her and laying in the same spot. Crazy things. Since this is the last week, i thoight she might need a place where she wouldnt be bothered. I set up a milk crate covered in a towel with cozy stuff in it. Waited until dark, moved the eggs, then her. She wont stay. Goes back to thw nesting box. Thoughts or ideas? I need all the help i can get!

Hi :)

Justin Rhodes from Permaculture chickens has some good broody hen advice on his movie... look him up on YOUTUBE.

he says to put the hen in the box and turn the opening to the wall so she won't escape...  she will hopefully settle down on her eggs :) :)

Truth is harder than a lie
The dark seems safer than the light
And everyone has a heart that loves to hide
I'm a mess and so are you
We've built walls nobody can get through
Yeah, it may be hard, but the best thing we could ever do, ever do
Bring your brokenness, and I'll bring mine
'Cause love can heal what hurt divides
And mercy's waiting on the other side.
