MPC super blue egg layers

Anyone have any of these guys? I ordered two pullets, and are two weeks old now, but really are kinda looking like males, and are fighting with everyone. They are only ones out of my other pullets that do not have tails yet as well as they are the least feathered of the bunch. Kind of hope what ever breeds they have in them is causing the slow feathering, but was curious if anyone had/has them can tell me or have pics of them at this age to compare with? I know I will have to just wait it out till they get a bit older, but was hoping to get some input.

Not sure what MPC uses, but most Super Blue (aka Sapphires) that I know of are Cream Legbar + Leghorn.

Thats what I was thinking (definitely can see the leghorn influence) but these two have lil muffs which surprised me. Ok going to look around for leghorns and see how they develop and maybe help. I just never had such fiesty chicks that weren't male, but never had anything with leghorn in it either.

I got 3 Super Blues from MPC, 2 pullets and 1 cockerel. The 2 pullets are mostly white while the cockerel is a gray wash and getting evenly gray as he grows.

We were supposed to have 3 Welsummer pullets but ended up with 1 cockerel- I've only caught the two of them fighting one time so far. Everyone does a chest bump now and then (whereas my other batch, all pullets, never ever chest bumped) but only the 2 cockerels carry it past one or two and really concentrate on fighting.

Mine are now 26 days old and the cockerel is significantly larger, much thicker feet, and has a (very soft, fluffy!!!) tail. One of the pullets has a tail about the same length, while the other is just barely showing a tail.

Shezadandy--Wow, your girls look just like mine! I am so relieved!!! The no tails were really starting to worry me, as all the other suppose to be pullets had them and my one (that I think is the one that suppose to be the male) did not. I will post pics today of them. They are also the largest of my group, and the first to come and grab mealworms from me....so you can see my worry

Yes, definitely! Of course we'll know for sure when they drop an egg, but I'm 97% confident. One of our barred rocks from the last batch did the slow feathering thing too- she was weeks behind the other pullet and had me concerned for a while. Fingers crossed that we've got it right!

I did notice they've got a funny little tip to the edge of their wings - not sure if that's a clue to the mix or not. (first picture below) The girls don't have nearly as much gray to the legs either. Personality wise they can be on the forward side especially when food is at stake. Maybe others who have them will chime in- I'm curious to know if they are auto-sexing or if I just happened to get a gray cockerel, especially if we eventually decide to try and incubate their eggs at some time in the future. His beak is also quite different than any of our other chicken breeds (maybe another clue?). He is significantly larger while the girls are about the same size as the Gold Laced Wyandottes but smaller at this stage than the Welsummer pullets.

My Super blue in back with the blue Ams and Egyptian Fayoumi, black copper marans, 4.5 wks old now, finally has feathers but the other super blue is still catching up, will have to get better picks. The super blues just stand so tall and are so feisty, even my Blue ameraucana roo chick isn't as bold though he is starting with the comb coloring up.

The super blue in the picture is nearly identical. Do yours have the funny rounded tip on the end of the wing feathers? I would love to find out that they're auto-sexing but until more folks who bought them this year find us we won't know for sure. Our two little cockerels don't qualify as feisty yet- only with each other when the mood strikes but that's likely to change very soon. I think the girls learned the chest bumping move from the boys and they will do 1-2 times with eachother- nothing my all pullet group ever did.
