How to bury hardware cloth for under coop and runs.

My dilemma; I can only get down about 6” around perimeter of coop. Wood, for run is not available till next week. At that point they can walk around run.,

The weather is warm enough now in the evening. Tonight will be first night outdide in coop… my thoughts are to bury apron out 2feet, using a tiller to help me out, using landscape pins. How much dirt on top of hardware cloth is sufficient?.., I have some bags of compost and topsoil..,

this week trail cam had red fox, arched back raccoon and porcupine. Back was arched, MP3 sounds of coyotes, barking dogs and shotgun blasts (sensor activated) orange tape will be built run…

If the ground is that hard can predators dig into the ground? Can you just lay the hardware cloth on top of the ground and stake it down eventually it will sink into the ground and blend in to the vegetation thats how I have the ground protection around my run if this a bad idea sorry I tend to try to keep things simple

Thanks so much. I never heard of a calliche bar or a trenching shovel. This coop/run will be in a lawn, so the sod is also hard to get through. We have bermuda grass which is the worst thing to try to get through. I think I might try to see if a landscape place has a trencher. I'm 81, and even tho' I'm building my own coop, digging is another thing. Thanks again.
We call them pinch bars here. I wouldn't be without one. They have many uses, from poking holes for poles, loosening soil, and moving big heavy things like boulders and milling machines
