I would think 4 months is too young....he may be getting on top of the hens in a dominance position(which kind of surprises me that the hens would allow that),

but is he actually touching vents?

Great article on VENTILATION, one of THE MOST IMPORTANT aspects of coop design.

Fantastic treatise to help decide how much SPACE your chickens need.

 

Chicken math is not just 'addition'...but also should include Division, Multiplication and especially Subtraction!!!

Think of him like a clumsy teenage boy just figuring out what to do with girls -- give him some time to grow up, mature and learn how to do the job well.
