In addition to our three White Rock/RI Red girls, we decided on a whim to pick up some chicks from TSC this year, because our son's getting to be about the age where he can actually experience raising chicks. I asked for 6 laying pullets, and went to get feed and other stuff while the clerk boxed them. Box is marked pullets, but when we got home my wife said she thought she saw him grabbing one from the Cornish X Rock bin.

I don't think these look like Cornish X's due to their stripes, but not really sure what breed they are - maybe Black Sex links? Would love to know your best guess.

Black sex link chicks are black (pullets no dot, cockerels with a dot on the head) so, no, they are not BSL. They could be red sex links, but the red wash caused by the heat lamp makes it difficult to really see the chicks for their true appearance. Turn off the light and take some photos to post and we can help you.

Whoops! Did not mean to type "black" in there. I must've been on autopilot - obviously they are not BSLs :)
Here are non-redwashed pictures. Chicks are 5 days old for reference.

I understand the disconnect between finger and brain - happens to me all the time, what I'm thinking is not what I end up typing, lol. I would concur with you that they are likely a red sex link, they are definitely not cornish X.

Okay, they're over 4 weeks old now, and look like this. Flash in my camera is on the fritz, so sorry the pictures are on the dark side, but I think you can see most of the brown/white coloring.

I'm still thinking Sex Link. What do y'all think?

Yep, red sex link pullets. I think you'll be very happy with them, they're wonderful layers.
