God knows....
All I know is, that it's not the type of Runner that anyone's going to want to keep if they breed Runners, which I have just started to do.
I'm annoyed because the guy is getting funny with me for not believing him.
He says there's 'no lake anywhere near' but ducks (like Mallards) will fly for miles and miles, lake or no lake, and people can have large ponds in their gardens or fields and he wouldn't necessarily be aware of that.
Ducks mate so fast, it would only have taken a couple seconds.
But by the look of his stock, I reckon he's got some mixed breeds and he's been lied to by some one who sold them to him.
I'll keep my duck for a bit because he keeps my girl company, but I'll probably sell him in the next month or so. It's a shame.
Also, he is a lot tamer than the other runners I've hatched and handled regularly.
Even with lots of handling, runners seem to stay wary of humans, but he is quite alright with being picked up and a smothered by me...another 'mix' trait - I have always found mixed breeds of ducks and chickens to be more placid than pures.
