Brand new chicken mama

Hello everyone!  I recently brought home(as in today) my very first chickens.  I got 5 1 week old chicks, and I am so very excited to have them.  I admit I am a bit of a jump right in and hope for the best type person, so I am sure I will have a bunch of questions.  right now I just am happy to be here and am trying to keep myself from checking on them every 5 minutes.

Welcome to BYC, and congrats on your new chicks, you can learn a lot on the forum but the learning center is great for information as well.

:welcome

I advise checking out the learning center: http://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center for helpful articles. Also feel free to ask all the questions you have :).

Welcome to Backyard chickens.  It is perfectly acceptable that you check up on your new chicks every 5 min.  You can even move their brooder into your bedroom to make it easier to do a midnight check.   We won't see anything wrong  with that.

I would do that except then my 2 year old son would never sleep.  At least in the spare bedroom I can close the door and keep him out.

I set fire to the rain! Watch it pour as I, touched your face. Well it burn while I cried, because I heard it screaming out your name. And I threw us into flames. I knew that was the last time, the last time...I set fire to the rain! -Adele
