Hey guys, I'm hatching my first egg, and I need advise! It's a Pekin duckling, and it pipped 18-19 hours ago, and the pip is still the same size. The shell all around the pip is cracked, and I'm mostly wandering how long this is going to take! Please advise!

I don't know anything about ducks but, sounds like the chick is starting to zip - make holes around the sides of the egg so the top can be pushed off. You will get much better information on the "Duck thread," put that in the search box and it will take you there. Sending good hatching vibes your way.

I want to say I have read it can take up to 48 hours for them to completely zip. Someone PLEASE correct me if i am wrong. I have read SO MUCH because I currently have 14 duck eggs in my incubator on lockdown. The eggs are wiggling but no external pips yet. Its just the end of day 26 and anticipation is KILLING ME!

I just read through some more forums on here to be SURE, but everything I have read says give it time. Ducks getbtired and tske their sweet time and as long as you can hear it quacking its okay. BUUUT, I'm right in the middle of my first ever lockdown myself and I'm as nervous as you. So, I'm no expert. Just read A LOT.

How's the hatching going? Were you able to get some assistance on the duck forum? There are some really experienced members there to help you out.

Good luck, hope all goes well!
