Okay, so when it comes to laying my chickens are pretty crazy. I have a few stories for you guys.
So, one day I went out to the coop, and I counted the chickens and there were 5. We have 6. Keep in mind it was only 5 o'clock so they shouldn't be in bed. So I look in the hen house and there is my black Astralorp, Popcorn. I pet her and I am wondering, what is she doing up there?! It is only 5 o'clock! So I am watching the chickens eat when all of the sudden an egg falls down from the roosting bar. One of our birds immediately goes after it (she only eats those so it doesn't really affect us). Popcorn jumps down from the roosting bar and I am left standing there, utterly bewildered at how you lay an egg on a roosting bar.
Another time I found our Ameraucana, Rafaela, not in her usual laying spot. She had moved to the far corner of the box where there was hardly any bedding. I just stare at her like, what are you doing over there?! She then gets up, still hasn't laid an egg, and walks right out of the hen house. I close the door and walk around to look at what she is doing. She is waddling around all weird. She was still laying an egg! She wandered around for a few seconds then laid the egg. Again, I stood there in utter bewilderment at how you lay and egg while walking.
Anyway I hope you enjoyed their stories!
