I received golden Brabanter eggs today from EBay and 12 of 13 made it here

BUT there are 4 terribly dirty eggs. When I incubate my own pristinely clean eggs, I get a 90% hatch rate.

I picked up hatching eggs from a person and they were dirty eggs too and only 2 hatched out of 12, and some were soooo stinky smelly in the bator I believe it was from their bacteria!!

Do I wipe off the dirty eggs and risk pushing bacteria into the embryo or do I just incubate as they are and hope bacteria doesn't spread to the good eggs?

Studies have shown that it makes little difference at this point to clean or not once the eggs are already dirty...

If it was me and they had 'chunks' on them I would wash them gently under warm water with a scrubber pad, don't worry about getting the stains off just get the chunks off, and handle carefully as to not break any...

Now the next part is optional but it, is what I have done when I reluctantly set dirty eggs... After washing under warm water, I fill a glass half way with common household hydrogen peroxide and microwave it for a bit so that it's warm, then I dip the eggs for 1 minute then let air dry and then set...

As I said I try not to set dirty eggs but when I do I follow the above and have had great hatch rates...
