Can we use newspapers for easy cleanup with baby chicks in the house?

I use newspapers under the shavings. Some people use puppy pads or hospital pads, also fine. Newsprint should NOT be the glossy colored printed stuff, and generally newspaper is a bit slippery for chicks. They will be messy no mater what you use as bedding! Mary
