When Can My Chicks Go outside?

Thread Starter

:cdI have 19 chicks that are 9 weeks old and 10 chicks that are 7 weeks old.  When is it safe to have them join my adult flock of 12 chickens?  I am not concerned about the temperature, but just that they will be able to hold their own against the adults.

I am a God fearing child of the Lord, living in the Evergreen State.

I love books including but not limited to... the Bible, Lord of the Rings, Hobbit, Wings of Fire.

I have a mini farm with around 50 chickens, 10 ducks, 2 Great Danes, and 3 farm cats, and five kittens born on June 10!

As long as you provide some sort of oasis that they can get in and the big chickens can't, they'll be fine.

When they're about the same size as the adult hens...4+ months IIRC...

There's also a ton of threads on here about integrating flocks...I'd read up on it so you don't wind up with any dead birds!
