Ridge, gable, and eave vents should work well all year round....
....I like top hinged windows that can stay open in most weather during summer.
Even then, can't make it cooler/warmer and/or drier than it is outside.
Best to have lots of air movement in summer(the heat can really stress them),
gentle air movement in winterwhile blocking any strong drafts(feather ruffling strong) from roost area.
It's a touchy balance that can need to be adjusted during the fist couple years of experience.
