Since I bought sexed chicks, I just assumed that I'd have all pullets. But after reading this forum for weeks, I have learned that it's definitely not a 100% thing. I haven't seen any "roo" signs in any of my 4-5 week olds, but then I looked closely at my Welsummer. She's about a week younger than the others (give or take, I believe she's about 4 weeks) but her comb is the largest and most pink. I don't have another Welsummer to compare her (or him!) to, so I don't know if I'm being paranoid or if she is indeed a he. Any help would be much appreciated! I'd really love for this one to be a pullet since it's my only one.

If the chest feathers are black (and I think they are) then it is a cockerel. Pullets have a salmon colored chest.

Darn!! That's disappointing. If had been any of the others I would've been okay because I have two of each. Oh well, maybe next spring I'll get some more Welsummer chicks. I had a bad feeling that it might be a cockerel. He just seemed different than the others. He has the thickest legs and he's the youngest in the batch.
